Things That Made Me Smile | Vol. 5 – Summer Edition

I honestly can’t remember the last time I did a favourites post, it must have been around Christmas, so I figured it was about time I got back on here and told you about some of my favourite things!

As a little disclaimer, I’m by no means claiming that these things are necessities or essentials in any way, in fact, they’re all fairly frivolous. However, as minimalists, I feel like we get easily swept away in the ‘decluttering’ mindset and can forget to show the things we have some love.

So, without further ado, here are 5 things I’ve been loving over the past couple of months.

1. My ‘unicorn’ Tombows.

I was on (and still am on) the pastel Tombow train for the longest time, but for summer I wanted to switch things up and invest in a few new colours.

Fun story, I was using these colours in one of my Speech and Drama groups and one of the kids said ‘wow Abby, you have unicorn pens’ and thus, I’ve been calling them my unicorn Tombows ever since.
If you’re interested the four colours are Rose Pink (703), Willow Green (173), Light Orange (025) and Sea Blue (373).

2. My glass diffuser.

This is the second diffuser I’ve ever bought, but I can tell you right here and now that it’s my absolute favourite. My previous diffuser although lovely, was a pain in the bum to use! Once you filled it with water, you had to twist and click the case together (a difficult task when water and electricity are involved).

So, when this glass one came back in stock on Amazon I snapped it up. Because the glass is heavier, it can simply be set on to the base, and it has a suction seal to stop the steam from building up inside the case too much.

Since I loved my first one so much, I have since bought a second one for my bedroom – I’m telling you, they’re great.

3. My Rose Quartz Roller.

The Jade Roller fad has been around for a while now, but I’ve only just gotten on the bandwagon in the past month.

Originally, I ordered a legitimate Jade Roller but it was broken when it arrived and so I went ahead and looked for a new one… safe to say, this one caught my attention purely because it’s pink.

I’m sure there’s supposed to be some holistic reason why it should be jade in the roller, but I don’t really believe in the whole crystals/energy thing. Plus, even when I’m surrounded by crystals, even when I was little, I’ve been drawn to Rose Quartz like a moth to a flame.

I’ve been using this with my Body Shop Strawberry Smoothing Face Mist as a relaxing addition to my morning routine and it’s glorious!

4. The Body Shop Strawberry Body Yogurt.

There’s nothing I hate more than a body lotion/butter that makes you all slick or sticky. You know the ones that never seem to absorb into your skin and can only be remedied by taking a shower?

Well, I heard about this one from Josie (The Fashion Mumblr on YouTube) and I had to try it out. This stuff absorbs in 15 seconds (in theory, for me I’d say it’s about a minute, maybe two, until I can get dressed) meaning I don’t have to walk around like I’ve been coated in honey, but still smelling amazing and feeling moisturised.

5. Elizabeth Arden White Tea Perfume.

I’ve been a long time fan of the Paco Rabanne Black XS perfume. However, it’s far from a summer scent, so I went on the hunt for something a little lighter.

I had a sample of this White Tea perfume from Feel Unique, and I became properly obsessed. It’s not super expensive and it lasts fairly well… it does fade throughout the day, but not in a nasty way (like some perfumes I’ve tried).

***
And that’s everything (well, it’s not everything, there are lots of things I love, but these are the 5 I’m telling you about today).

If you guys have any obsessions at the moment let me know, especially books and TV shows, I’m on the hunt for some new entertainment!

  1. Awesome post! I’ve been wanting to purchase a diffuser. I’m definitely going to have to check Amazon out for one. What brands would you recommend?
