Now that all my assignments are in and all my presentations are given, I’ve been turning my attention to Netflix to see what TV shows I need to catch up on and have come to the conclusion that I’ve already watched everything I have any interest in seeing.
Although that means that I’m basically resigned to rewatching Age of Adaline 100 more times over the holidays, it does give me the ability to help you guys out.
Today, I’m going to be sharing with you 6 shows that you can dive into over the Christmas break on either Netflix or Amazon Prime (in the UK at least, I know listings vary in different countries, but I’m sure some of these will be available to you somewhere!)
Let’s not put it off any longer, you have some TV to watch!
1. Designated Survivor (Netflix)
I’m not sure if my love for Keifer Sutherland has ever surfaced on this blog before, but I am absolutely head over heels in love with him. His character in this show isn’t quite as badass as his usual roles, but the show itself is so full of political intrigue and action that I can’t get enough. Plus the lovely Maggie Q always has me questioning my life when she kicks down a door with her toothpick legs or knocks a guy out with her tiny little arms, she’s awesome.
2. Jane The Virgin (Netflix)
I didn’t really know what to expect when I first started watching this a few years back, but now it’s one of my all-time favourite shows (my family all love to watch it too).
Essentially, it’s a soap opera with a lot less commitment and a lot more drama (if that’s possible). All the characters, romance and suspense are handled so well and in such a uniquely Jane-The-Virgin way that I always find myself squealing when I see new episodes have been added.
3. Suits (Netflix)
Especially now that Meghan Markle is going to be a Princess, you almost have to watch it for current affairs purposes… right?
This is the best legal drama I’ve ever watched, the women all have amazing clothes and the relationships between the characters are so well written that you fully believe it’s real.
Plus, now we can all wait in anticipation to see how Meghan Markle leaves – my money’s on killing her off, couldn’t have the new Princess leaving the show with any kind of negativity could we?
4. Jessica Jones (Netflix)
This one’s for the Marvel fans among you. Daredevil is what first got me into the Marvel TV shows, but Jessica Jones is my favourite to date. I love the relationship between Jessica and Luke Cage, not to mention that David Tennant is the most fantastically pitiful/terrifying villain I’ve ever seen, it’s just wonderful.
5. Gavin and Stacey (Netflix)
Now, the only problem with this one is that Neflix doesn’t have Season 1, but Season 2 and 3 make sense without it so I’d still recommend checking it out.
This show is so short you can literally watch a season a day without noticing, but it’s hilariously funny and has Nessa (otherwise known as my favourite, most quotable character ever). Definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it before.
6. This is Us (Amazon Prime)
Originally I wasn’t going to include anything from Amazon Prime, but I watched this last week from start to finish and I just had to include it.
This is one of my favourite things I’ve ever seen, especially as a Gilmore Girls fan who has been dying for more Milo for years.
I can’t even really explain what this show is about without spoiling it, so I’m going to tell you that it’s kind of like the movie Crash (in that all the stories are eventually intertwine) with a lot of emphasis on the importance of family and the dysfunctionality of family.
Again, it’s a quick watch but well worth the time!
And that’s it! 6 shows you should definitely binge over Christmas if you haven’t seen them already. What’s your favourite show to binge? I didn’t include it on this list, but I’m pretty much always watching either Gilmore Girls or MASH on a loop… I never get tired of them.
See some of you in the comments and the rest back here tomorrow for another day of Blogmas!
