To finish off the series, I thought I’d share my bucket list. I have an ever growing list of things in my head that I’d like to do in my lifetime, but that can be very overwhelming at times. Instead, I like to select a few things that I can do throughout the course of a year that are going to be great experiences that are getting me closer to where I want to be, and shrinking that Bucket List as fast as it grows.
This year, I’ve chosen 5 things. I’m going to level with you, they’re mostly travel things, but I’ve got some serious wanderlust at the moment guys so I really can’t help it! Anyway, let’s not ramble:
- Go on a mission trip to Tanzania.
This is pretty much set in stone by this stage, as in July time I’m booked to go on a trip to Tanzania with my church group and help out in a village and school there. I’ve always wanted to do some mission work, and this is the perfect opportunity – I can’t wait to go!
- Complete a TEFL course.
This is less of an item on my bucket list and more a step to help me tick off an item on my bucket list. After I graduate, I’d love to go to South Korea or Japan and teach English for a year. It’s just something that really appeals to me, and this is how I get there. It’s a necessary evil.
- Go to Scotland.
As I live in Northern Ireland, this isn’t a long trip like Tanzania, but I really want to go and visit some of my friends in Dundee at some stage – I’m hoping I can do this at some time in January, but if it doesn’t happen then, it’s got to happen before the year is out!
- Go to London.
Again, not a massive trek, but I have family in London that I haven’t seen in years and I really need to go and visit. My Dad and I are tentatively planning this trip, but we’ll see how it goes. You never know, maybe it’ll tie in with my Scottish excursion!
- Watch 25 of the IMDb Top 250 movies I haven’t seen before.
I’ve always been a bit of a movie buff, but recently I’ve been gravitating towards the new stuff rather than watching the classics. This year I want to get back to my roots and watch at least 25 titles from the IMDb Top 250. Judging by this checklist, I’ve currently watched 44 of them, and there’re a few others that I think I’ve seen bits of, but maybe not the whole way through. If I could replace the time I spend mindlessly watching YouTube videos I’d be doing well!
For me, a bucket list is a place for fun more than a place for goals, so I try to keep all the experiences light and enjoyable.
What’s on your 2017 bucket list? Bungee jumping? Skydiving? Zorbing? Mountain climbing? Swimming? Or do you want to travel somewhere? Let me know in the comments!
And so, we come to the end of this series… sort of. For the next year, at the end of each month, I’ll be posting an update on how my goals are going, what my focus was for the past month and how I can do better in the future. Hopefully, it’ll help keep you inspired and up to date.
I’d love to hear from you! If you’ve enjoyed this series, please let me know, it’s not my normal content, but I’ve really enjoyed writing it, I can only hope you enjoyed reading it.
I’ll see you in a few days with some more bookish posts.
Until then, Abby.
