2017 Reading Goals

As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to start planning for the future. I love to think about reading challenges I can set myself for the coming months. Today, I’m going to share my 2017 reading goals, hopefully it’ll inspire your own!

  1. Read 100 books. Just a classic Goodreads Reading Challenge basically! Since I’m studying English, I’ll be reading a lot of books for school in the coming year, so this shouldn’t be too unrealistic a target. Plus, I really want to keep reading for pleasure this term, that’s one of the reasons I started this blog, to give myself an excuse to read without feeling like I’m wasting time!
  2. Read from a more diverse range or authors, genres and settings. In 2016, I really tried to branch out in terms of genre and tried some Fantasy and Sci-Fi, but I think I can take it a step or two further. I especially want to read from a more diverse pool of authors, I think that’s very important in this day and age, and keeps your TBR interesting.
  3. Read 1 book from a book club per month. I’d love to eventually start my own online book club, but I’m afraid I’m just not there yet. Instead, I like to dabble in other book clubs just to feel like I’m part of a bigger community of readers. I alternate between sunbeamsjess book club, the banging bookclub, the bookbound society and booksplosion – it just depends on my mood and which club has the most interesting pick for that month.

I like to keep my reading goals pretty simple because my tastes are constantly changing, but there you have it! What’re your reading goals for 2017? If you have a Goodreads Reading Challenge let me know, I’d love to follow your journey!

  1. If you need any ideas for books to read, please stop by my page. I post two book reviews every week over nonfiction, inspirational books. I think that knowing what to expect from a book before you read it makes you more excited and motivated to read it, so that goal of 100 wouldn’t seem so daunting either.

  2. I usually commit to 100 books in a year. I made it last year and smashed it this year at (so far) 160something. I still have some reviews to post, so until then the books won’t count. I also signed up for the Netgalley and Edelweiss challenge and the Beat the Backlist challenge because I want to get my TBR down and my already owned books read. They are both year round so they sound like fun!

      1. Thanks! I don’t know if I’ll read that many this year: part of it was a worked at a call center and during down time I could read. I read a book a day on average. It was a sweet job. Then they changed campaigns and the calls got crazy, and my reading volume went down.
Now that I’m not working, I hope to get a jump start until I start again!
